What is the Best Way to Eat Your Potatoes? Boise State Player Derrick Alston Jr. Fills Out His Bracket
On today's episode of Barstool Bench Mob, we welcomed on another guest from a Mid-Major school. Boise State's Derrick Alston Jr. joined the show to talk all things Broncos, his journey from a walk-on to getting put on scholarship, and much more. In addition to all of that, what's an interview with a player who balls out in Idaho without talking some potatoes?
To wrap up our time with the leading scorer on Boise State, we put together a Potato Bracket for Alston to fill out. The Houston native obviously has plenty of selections while living in Idaho, and he filled out his picks below:
Now, based off the early Twitter response, people are NOT happy with Alston's bracket. But that's the beauty of an activity like this. It can spark plenty of fun debate, what is correct, where someone went wrong, etc. For those wondering, here are my power rankings of the eight types of potatoes we listed in the bracket:
1. French Fries
2. Mashed Potatoes
3. Sweet Potato
4. Hash Browns
5. Tater Tots
6. Baked Potato
7. Wedges
8. Potato Chips
And while it wasn't listed, the absolute best type of potatoes out there are sweet potato fries (specifically the waffle ones from Bar Coastal in NYC, which Jon Rothstein got me and many others hooked on). I have no idea if the the nutritional facts back this up, but it feels a bit "healthier" than regular french fries. I think(?) that's correct.
Now, let's hear from you. What's the best type of potato product out there?
